Who am I?
When I connect to the energy of Aries, I immediately feel a fire brewing in my gut with a deep desire to create, courage to take risks, and willpower to make things happen. In Astrology, the constellation of Aries is associated with the element of Fire and the Ram because of its determination, strength, and unwavering ability to charge ahead. It is a FORCE of nature.
Aries, being the first sign of the Zodiac, means that it is here to SPARK new life, ideas, and creative endeavors! This is why in the Northern Hemisphere, Aries is also connected to the beginning of Spring as nature blossoms new life. Aries helps us question our identity. Here is where we ask ourselves: WHO I AM IN TRUTH? And if we listen closely to our inner wisdom it responds with "I AM".
When we look at the cycle of life, Aries is connected to our sacred birthing process. It is at birth that we direct our strong fire energy and PUSH to individuate ourselves as our own separate identities. It is in this phase that our own sense of Self is born. Aries is the resurrection of life.
Libra Polarity
As we channel our Aries boldness, we also often face challenges of feeling impatient, impulsive, and even competitive. During these moments, we can feel overly identified with our urges, and even our desires to act are loud, we are not our urges. This is where we can call upon the polar oppositive of Aries, Libra, to help us navigate these tougher times. Libra reminds us to look around and take into consideration other people's experiences, to take a moment to reflect on the effect of our actions. Aries often can find themselves in a situation where they are seen as self-centered, and Libra helps us connect back to our center, and how we are charging ahead not only for ourselves but for the greater good. Aries will often volunteer because its motivation is altruistic at heart.
Connecting to our 3rd Eye Intuition
Even though traditional Astrology connects Aries to the traditional ruler of Mars (the planet of action), it is through the Esoteric Ruler of Aries, Mercury, that we can gain more perspective and effectively use Aries for altruistic endeavors. When we use Mercury energy we can channel our fire energy through our minds (our 3rd eye / 6th chakra), it allows us to connect with our intuition become clear, conscious, and direct channels for actions.
One of the biggest gifts that Aries has to offer our society is that it's a vehicle for creativity. Think back to your last "AHA" moment when you were driving, running, reading a book, or even listening to a talk...that's Aries energy! The irresistible feeling that you must act on a new idea. It is through these ideas that we fuel our evolutionary growth and innovate our society.
An invitation:
Next time you're feeling that irresistible urge to act or that spark of a new idea, don't be quick to act on it. First, find a quiet moment to sit in meditation with that passionate energy and ask yourself:
What is this energy and what is it asking of me?
What am I a channel for?
What am I trying to find my courage to come forth and speak or act upon?
As you patiently sit on your mat, pay attention to your body's sensations. Listen to your inner wisdom. Then ask:
How will this action make a difference in my life and other people’s lives?
How is this idea or courageous act serving humanity?
The famous poet Victor Hugo once said:
Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come
I ask you: What powerful idea do you have whose time has come?
