Solar Eclipse (New Moon) in Aquarius

Chrysalis of Light

This New Moon Eclipse arrives with electricity in the air. The Sun and Moon meet in Aquarius at the anaretic degree, the final 29th degree of the sign. An anaretic New Moon carries urgency. It is a culmination. A karmic exhale. Something Aquarian has reached its threshold: the way we belong, the way we participate in the collective, the way we dare to be different.

Aquarius asks: Where do you stand in the larger web of humanity? At 29°, the question is no longer theoretical. It is embodied. Lived. Chosen.

Eclipses have always been regarded as powerful turning points. In ancient cosmologies, they were seen as interruptions in the natural order, moments when light was swallowed and the visible became obscured. Astrologically, eclipses occur near the lunar nodes, the points where the path of the Sun and Moon intersect. These nodes are often described as karmic gateways. When a New Moon becomes an eclipse, it is no longer simply a monthly reset. It becomes a course correction.

Eclipses reveal what has been hidden. They accelerate timelines. They bring fated encounters and decisive endings. They can feel destabilizing because they bypass the ego’s preferred pacing. Something larger is at work.

With the eclipse in Aquarius, the interruption happens in the realm of collective identity, community, technology, friendship, and future vision. The question becomes: What future are we actually aligned with?

In Chinese astrology, we are in the Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of momentum, independence, and untamed vitality. The Horse runs toward freedom. Fire amplifies courage, passion, and decisive action. When an Aquarian eclipse meets Fire Horse energy, we feel the call to liberate ourselves from outdated structures. This is not quiet change. It is bold. Visionary. Future oriented.

The Sabian symbol for this degree, “A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis,” speaks to irreversible transformation. The chrysalis is a sealed, liminal space where dissolution must occur before beauty can take form. What once crawled must surrender its former structure in order to grow wings. In the context of this eclipse, something in our Aquarian identity, our role in community, or our vision of the future has been quietly reorganizing beneath the surface. The emergence may feel vulnerable, even tender, but it marks a point of no return. A new form of self is ready to meet the air.

Saturn & Neptune now travel through early Aries, preparing for their exact conjunction on February 20. Saturn brings structure and accountability. Neptune dissolves, dreams, spiritualizes. In Aries, the sign of initiation, this pairing signals the birth of a new collective story, one that asks us to take responsibility for our ideals and to ground vision in courageous action. The old dream dissolves. A new fire is lit. This eclipse is part of that preparation.

At the same time, Venus is exactly conjunct the North Node at 8° of Pisces. This is a destiny line of the heart. Venus in Pisces loves without armor. She softens what has hardened. She remembers compassion, artistry, devotion. When aligned with the North Node, relationships, creativity, and values take on karmic significance.

Questions to guide you on this Solar Eclipse:

  • What collective role are you completing and what new one is emerging?

  • Where is life accelerating you beyond your comfort zone?

  • What feels fated in love, art, or spiritual devotion right now?
